7910641-5 lO 2 elementet är också väl lämpat i samband med en tom be- hållare eller påse, vars inre exempelvis kan hållas i sterilt tillstånd enda fram till användningstillfäl- let. På motsvarande sätt kan det inre av ett rör- eller slangstycke hållas förseglat gentemot omgivningen med hjälp av ett kopplingselement vid vardera av rörstyckets ändar. " Vidare är kopplingselementet enligt uppfinningen väl lämpat för sammankoppling av två rör, vars ändar är förseglade med hjälp av var sitt kopplingselement.
De två kopplingselementens sammanfogning kan ske samti- digt med bestrålningen och den härav_följande genom- och sammansmältningen av de smältbara väggarna. För att möjliggöra en sammanfogning före bestràlningen är det emellertid lämpligt att kopplingselementet är in- rättat på sätt som anges i kravet 2 och som ytterligare preciseras i kraven 3 - 6.
Kravet 7 anger en speciell utföringsform, där passagen, som är inrättad för förbindelse med ett rörs ände, är avgränsad av en rörstuts, som är tillsluten medelst en sönderbrytbar vägg, som uppbär en kropp för framkallande av brott häri. En sådan brytbar tillslut- ning är känd i andra sammanhang, exempelvis gçnom US-4 122 980, men är särskilt lämpad i samband med kopplings- elementet enligt uppfinningen. Så länge tillslutningen där obruten är hálrummet i kopplingselementet helt för- seglat och skyddat mot förorening, och under bestràl- ningen av den smältbara väggen kan det dessutom åstad- kommas ett övertryck i hàlrummet, då den inspärrade luftmängden expanderar på grund av uppvärmning. Detta övertryck gynnar bildningen av en öppning i kopplings- elementets smältbara vägg. Speciellt vid hantering och lagring av blod i blodpásar, vars åtkomstöppningar är förseglade medelst kopplingselement enligt uppfinningen, är det olämpligt om blod kan tränga helt ut i kopplings- elementets hålrum. Också i detta sammanhang är den spe- ciella, brytbara tillslutningen mycket väl lämpad i U1 79106151-5 3 kopplingselementet enligt uppfinningen, speciellt i en utföringsform, som anges i kravet 8, där en mani- pulering utifrån av det flexibla röret kan framkalla brott i tillslutningen och därvid skapa förbindelse till kopplingselementets hàlrum när så önskas.
Uppfinningen beskrivs närmare i det följande under hänvisning till bifogade ritningar. Fig 1 är en sidovy av två kopplingselement av den aktuella typen, innan dessa hopfogas till en förseglad kopplingsanordning.
Fig 2 är ett vertikalsnitt genom en kopplingsanordning, skapad av två kopplingselement i fig l. Fig 3 är ett längdsnitt genom ett av kopplingselementen i fig 2.
Fig 4 är en ändvy av ett av kopplingselementen i fig l. Fig 5 är en planvy av ett av kopplingselementen i fig l sedd ovanifràn. Fig 6 är en ändvy av kopplingsan- ordningen i fig 2. Fig 7 är en planvy av kopplingsanord- ningen i fig 2. Fig 8 är en sidovy, delvis i snitt, av två kopplingselement enligt uppfinningen, innan dessa hopfogas till en förseglad kopplingsanordning. Fig 9 är en planvy av ett kopplingselement 1 fig 8 sedd ovan- ifran. Fig 10 är ett fragmentariskt lodrätt snitt genom en kopplingsanordning framställd av de hopfogade kopp- lingselementen i fig 8. Fig ll är ett längdsnitt genom ett av de i fig 10 visade kopplingselementen. Fig 12 är en sidovy, med vissa delar utelämnade, av de hop- fogade köpplingselementen i fig 10. Fig 13 är en plan- vy av de hopfogade kopplingselementen i fig 10.
Det hänvisas nu till fig l - S, som visar en kopp- lingsanordning 10, som är skapad av däri ingående kopp- lingselement 12, 14 av den aktuella typen. Varje kopp- lingselement 12, 14 innefattar ett ihåligt transparent hus 16, varvid husets ihåliga inre 20 kan förseglas från ytteromgivningen. ' En del av väggen av varje hus innehåller en opak vägg- del 22, som skiljer husets ihåliga inre 20 från omgiv- ningen. Varje opak väggdel är förseglad vid resten av det tillhörande transparenta huset runt och längs vägg-I delens 22 periferi. - 7910641-5 4 .
Varje hus 16 i kopplingselementen 12, 14 är inrättat att hopföras med huset på det motsvarande kopplingsele- mentet, så att de opaka väggdelarna 22 har ytkontakt med varandra, såsom visas i fig 2, och hålles i tättslutan- de, fasthållet tillstånd. Genom att utsätta de på så vis inbördes förbundna husen för strålningsenergi på samma vis, som beskrivs i den inledningsvis omtalade ameri- kanska patentskriften 4 157 723, kan de i kontakt med varandra varande opaka väggdelarna smälta samman och bilda en genomgående öppning häri. 7 De opaka väggdelarna 22 kan företrädesvis vara fram- ställda av ett organiskt termoplastiskt material, företrä- desvis ett material med en hög smält- eller mjukgörnings- temperatur, så att alla bakterier, som uppehåller sig på de opaka väggdelarnas utvändiga sidor, dödas vid expone- ring för den opaka väggdelens smält- eller mjukgörnings- temperatur och dessutom infàgas i den smältande massan.
Speciellt kan den opaka väggdelen 22 framställas av et polykarbonatmaterial, såsom Lexan, som saluföres av General Electric, eller av andra termoplastiska ma- terial, företrädesvis med hög smältpunkt.
Den termoplastiska opaka väggdelen 22 innefattar van- ligtvis ett fyllmedel, såsom pulvriserat träkol, aktive- rat träkol eller kimrök för att göra väggdelen opak, men andra önskade fyllmedel, som kan absorbera den typ av strålningsenergi, som skall nyttjas, kan komma till användning som ersättning för kol.
De visade husen 16 är framställda av ett transpa- rent, högsmältande plastmaterial, såsom Lexan.
Strålningsenergin kan tillföras systemet i form av synlig eller vitglödande, infraröd, ultraviolett eller radiofrekvens energi, alltefter önskemål. Uttrycket "opak" innebär, att de opaka väggdelarna är inrättade att absorbera en förhållandevis hög procentandel av den ifrågavarande stràlningsenergin, som väggdelarna utsät- tes för. Uttrycket "transparent" innebär, att en mindre procentandel av den tillförda strålningsenergin absorbe-- 7910641-5 ras. Fokuserad infrarödstrálningsenergi är speciellt önskvärd för användning. Om så önskas kan laserstrålar nyttjas för att ge strålningsenergin.
De opaka väggdelarna 22 kan vara förspända genom en axiell eller biaxiell orientering, eller med radiella ' spänningsmönster för att främja bildandet av en central öppning, när de opaka väggdelarna hopsmältes. Spänninge- fria väggdelar kan också nyttjas, varvid bildningen av den centrala öppningen sker genom kohesion under den värmemjukgörande bestrålningsoperationen.
Varje kopplingselement 14, 16 uppvisar medel för fasthàllande av det andra kopplingselementet. Dessa fasthàllningsmedel innefattar två motstående griparmar 24, som är anbragta vid en första ände 26 av huset och som avgränsa: ett spår 28 för fasthållande av en fläns, som är anbragt i detta spår. Två motstående flänsar 30 är på motsvarande vis anbragta vid en andra ände 32 av huset 16. Varje fläns 30 och de av griparmarna 24 bilda- de spåren 28 är parallella med den opaka väggdelen 22.
Bredden av spåren 28 är så vald, att den är åtminstone lika stor som bredden på flänsarna 30, så att flänsarna på det motsatta kopplingselementet 12 eller 14 kan passa in i spåren i griparmarna 24, medan flänsarna 30 på det första kopplingselementet kan passa in i spåren i griparmarna 24 på det motstående kopplingselementet.
Kopplingselementen kan sålunda tätslutande hophållas till en kopplingsanordning, visad 1 fig 2, och med de opaka väggdelarna 22 stötande intill varandra.
Kopplingselementen hopföres genom att de skjutes sam- man i en riktning, som är parallell med planet för de opaka väggarna 22. Följaktligen kommer tillfälliga kraf- ter, som strävar att dra kopplingselementen från varand- ra, icke att kunna framkalla något som helst åtskíljande, eftersom den enda möjligheten till relativ rörelse lig- ger i planet för spåren 28 och flänsarna 30.
Passande tandningar kan vara anordnade för att få kopplingselementen 12, 14 att hoplàsas med snäppverkan ?91osu1-s 270 äop 6 _ för att förhindra ätskiljande av kopplingselementen till separata komponenter, sedan de har blivit hopsatta.
Efter hopsättningen kan kopplingselementen bestrálas med fokuserad infraröd strålning eller liknande under en önskad lång tid. Vid användning av exempelvis två mot-_ stàende 150 W Sylvania-lampor med elliptisk reflektor (modul DJL), kan det fokuserade infraröda ljuset tillfö- ras i ca 5 s för effektiv bildning av en genomgående öpp- ning i de två opaka väggarna 22 och samtidigt för hop- smältning av dessa väggar runt omkring öppningen, så att en förseglad strömningsväg bildas mellan resp kopplings- elements 12, 14 ihåliga inre 20. Om så önskas kan lampan drivas vid mindre 150 W genom användning av en lägre spän- ' ning, för reduktion av strâlnïngsintensiteten.
Varje kopplingselement har också en passage eller rörstuds 34, som kan vara utformad i ett stycke med huset 16. I den visade utföringsformen löper passagens 34 axel längs planet för den fixerade opaka väggdelen 22.
Passagen eller rörstudsen 34 insättes företrädesvis tättslutande i ett flexibelt rör 36, som i sin tur kan stå i förbindelse med en förseglad behållare 38, såsom en blodpåse, en behållare för parenteral lösning eller liknande. När kopplingselementen 12, 14 har hopförts och bestrålats, kan följaktligen en steril förbindelse öppnas mellan tvà behållare 38 för överförande av flui- der mellan behållarna.
Det hänvisas nu till fig 8 - 13, som visar en ut- föríngsform av kopplingselementet enligt uppfinningen.
-Fig 8 - 13 visar tvâ kopplingselement 60, 62, som liksom vid det tidigare utförandet" innehaller ett ina- ïsligt transparent hus 54 samt en opak vägg-66, som vid sin periferi är förseglad vid det transparenta huset 64, motsvarande den tidigare beskrivna konstruktionen.
Varje kopplingselement har anordningar för att sam- manhålla husen 64. Hållaranordningarna innefattar mot- stående griparmar 68 vid en första ände 70 av huset, 79106lf1~5 ' 7 . och dessa armar avgränsar ett spår 72 för upptagning av en fläns 74, som svarar mot flänsarna 30 i den i fig l - 7 visade konstruktionen, på kopplingselementet med vilket det skall bildas förbindelse.
I den visade utföringsformen är flänsarna 74 an- bragta vid en andra ände 76 av varje hus 64, och flän- sarna 74 är inrättade att kunna skjutas in i och fast- hållas i ett spår 72, som avgränsas av griparmarna på ett andra kopplingselement, så att de tvåfkopplingsele- menten hoplàses med respektive opaka väggar 66 liggan- de mot varandra, sàsom visas 1 fig 10.
Tandningar 78, 80 år så anordnade, att respektive kopplingselement 60, 62 efter hopskjutningen blott svår- ligen kan isärdragas under normal användning, där kopp- lingselementen för att säkra sterilitet är beraknade att hophållas permanent under deras användningsperiod efter hopkoppling. - g Varje kopplingselement 60, 62 har en i ett stycke därmed utformad passage eller rörstuds 84, vars axel enligt uppfinningen bildar en spetsig vinkel med planet för den tillhörande opaka väggdelen 66. Såsom visas har ytteränden av studsen 84 en tillsluten ändvägg 86 med ett tunnare och sönderbrytbart område, som kan vara ringformigt. En framskjutande del 90 sträcker sig utåt från.den tillslutna ändväggen, så att en manuell böj- ning av den utskjutande delen 90 kan framkalla brott i ändväggen 86 och därigenom öppning av studsens 84 yttersta ände. ' Liksom i den först omtalade konstruktionen kan rör- studsen 84 vara insatt tättslutande i ett flexibelt rör 36a, som står i förbindelse med en förseglad behålla- re, såsom en blodpåse. Följaktligen möjliggör en manuell manipulering av det flexibla röret 36a och av den fram- skjutande delen 90 framkallande av brott i varje rörstuds 84 ände 86, varvid kopplingselementen 60, 62 öppnas efter det att de förbundits med varandra till en kopp- lingsanordning enligt fig 10. ?9106l|1«-5 8 När båda kopplingselementen har sönderbrytbara för- seglade ändar 86 på sina respektive rörstudsar 84 är det ofta önskvärt att öppna en av dem före bestràlnings- operationen. I så fall kommer luft, som befinner sig i den förseglade kammaren 94 i huset 64 och i rörstudsen 84, att expandera under uppvärmningen och därvid àväga- bringa en tryckskillnad över de opaka väggarna 66 under bestràlningssteget. 1. Kopplingselement (60) för försegling av ett rörs eller en lednings (36a) ändparti, vilket element _ innefattar ett hus (64), som har väggar bestående av ett material med en första absorptionsgrad för strål- ningsenergi och som omsluter ett invändigt hålrum (94), vilket hus vidare har en passage, som komunicerar med nämnda hälrum och som är inrättat för kommunikation med nämnda ändparti av röret eller ledningen, varjämte huset vidare har en smältbar vägg (66), vilken består av ett material med en sådan andra absorptionsgrad för strålningsenergi, som överskrider den första absorp- tionsgraden, och vilken vägg normalt förseglar det in- vändiga hålrummet mot kommunikation med atmosfären men bildar en genomgående öppning när den tillföres strål- ningsenergi som är tillräcklig för att smälta väggen, k ä n n e t e c k n a t därav, att den smältbara väggen sträcker sig snedställd genom det invändiga hàl- rummet och bildar en spetsig vinkel med passagens axel.

Kopplingselement enligt kravet l, k ä n n e- t e c k n a t av hållarorgan för hopföring av ele- mentet med ett liknande, andra element så, att respek- tive smältbara väggar_kommer till anliggningsberöring med varándra och normalt"blockerar mot strömnings- kommunikation mellan respektive passager via de till varandra anslutna hålrummen och bildar, till följd av nämnda tillförsel av strålningsenergi i och för smält- ning av båda varandra berörande väggarna, en gemensam öppning i var och en av väggarna, varigenom strömnings- kommunikation uppstår mellan respektive passager genom de med varandra förbundna hålrummen.

Kopplingselement enligt kravet 2, k ä n n e- t e c k n a t därav, att hållarorganen är så inrättade, att de medger glidhopföring av kopplingselementet med nämnda andra kopplingselement i en sådan riktning, som . 1910641-5 _10 15 20 25 30 10 är väsentligen parallell med den smältbara väggen, till ett relativt läge, i vilket de två kopplingselementen hophålles till ett enda kopplingsorgan.
