Abstract

1,128,155. Cigarette container. PHILIP MORRIS Inc. 19 Oct., 1965 [11 Dec., 1964], No. 44300/65. Headings B8C and B8P. A container for tobacco products is formed from a laminated blank including a hydrophylic layer and a water-impervious layer, and the overlapping edges of the package include a folded edge to provide water-impervious layer to water-impervious layer contact so that no hydrophylic material communicates via the passage with both the interior and exterior of the container. In the package illustrated, the top seam Q<SP>1</SP>, R<SP>1</SP>, P<SP>1</SP> is preferably unsealed, to permit atmospheric oxygen to enter the package. The whole of the seams may be unsealed, or they may all be sealed, or intermittent seals may be employed. The seals may be effected by heat. The laminate may be of aluminium or lead foil, or of a thermoplastic resin, and the laminate may be formed by joining two layers, or by coating. Preferred dimensions and material are specified.
