Abstract

1,078,221. Transistor pulse circuits. ROBERT BOSCH G.m.b.H. Oct. 16, 1964 [Oct. 17, 1963], No. 42227/64. Heading H3T. [Also in Divisions G1 and G3] In an electronic switch which operates in dependence on the rotational speed of a shaft, electric pulses of frequency directly proportional, and duration inversely proportional, to the said speed are generated in a pulse source 10 and are applied to a bi-stable multivibrator 11 via two parallel RC circuits N1, N2 to cause multivibrator 11 to change its state at a first predetermined speed when the shaft is accelerating and to revert at a second predetermined speed when the shaft is slowing down. As shown, pulse source 10 comprises a camcontrolled contact breaker and a D.C. supply; alternatively an inductive or photo-electric generator may be used. Below the first predetermined speed, transistor T 2 in multivibrator 11 is conducting; at this speed, however, due to the decreasing duration of the pulses fed to N2, diode 40 starts to pass trigger pulses to the input E2 of multivibrator 11, causing the latter to switch to a condition in which T 1 is conducting. When the speed of the shaft falls to the second predetermined speed, diode 33 in N1 begins to pass pulses to input E1 of 11, so causing a reversion to the original state. The load resistors 41, 42 in the collector circuits of T 1 , T 2 respectively, may comprise relay coils in a system adapted to maintain the speed of an electric motor between the two predetermined speeds. In a modification, Fig. 5 (not shown), only one RC circuit (N2) is provided, and a signalling lamp (70) in the collector circuit of T 1 is illuminated when a predetermined speed is exceeded; artificial hysteresis is imparted by a series RC circuit (72, 73) between N 2 and the collector of T 2 , or, alternatively, by connecting the emitters of T 1 and T 2 to the positive line 31 through a common resistor (74), which is shunted by a capacitor (75). Fig. 6 (not shown) depicts a monostable multivibrator which may replace the bi-stable switch 11.
