Abstract

FIELD: treatment of organic waste containing hydrogen and carbon in smelt forming flow of gases enriched with hydrogen and carbon. SUBSTANCE: organic waste is introduced in smelt contained in carbonization reactor without addition of oxidizing agent under conditions adequate for decomposition of organic waste followed by formation of gaseous hydrogen and carbonized metal. Carbonized smelt is directed from carbonization reactor to decarbonization reactor and oxidizing agent is introduced into carbonized smelt in decarbonization reactor for oxidation of carbon contained there; as a result, decarbonization of smelt takes place and flows of enriched gaseous hydrogen and carbon monoxide are formed. EFFECT: enhanced efficiency.

Claims (1)

Method and device for treating organic waste containing hydrogen and carbon in molten metal to form gas streams enriched in hydrogen and carbon. In one embodiment of the present invention, the organic waste is introduced into the molten metal contained in the carbonization reactor without adding a separate oxidizing agent and under conditions sufficient to decompose the organic waste to form hydrogen gas and carbonized metal. The carbonized molten metal is sent from the carbonization reactor to the decarbonization reactor and the oxidizing agent is introduced into the carbonized molten metal in the decarbonization reactor to oxidize the carbon contained therein, resulting in the decarbonization of the molten metal and the formation of enriched flows of hydrogen gas and carbon monoxide.
