Abstract

FIELD: nonferrous metallurgy. SUBSTANCE: cadmium oxide in amount of 2-6 % is dissolved in melt and process is carried out at cathode current density equal to 0.2-1.5 A/cmand anode current density of 0.25-1.9 A/cm. Use is made of indifferent anode and liquid or indifferent solid cathode at interpole distance of 2-5 cm. EFFECT: increased capacity, cut down capital outlays, enhanced ecological situation at electrolysis of alkaline-carbonate melt.

Claims (1)

The invention relates to the field of non-ferrous metallurgy. The aim of the invention is to obtain copper from copper sulfide without the use of a carbon reducing agent and to reduce the volume of exhaust gases from a molten alkali metal salt. Copper sulfide is loaded into the carbonate melt at 873 - 1520 o C and incubated for 1 to 4.5 hours
