Pathology of periodontal disease is one of the leading places among dental diseases. According to modern concepts, along with metabolic and immunological disorders, the vascular factor is recognized as one of the key in the pathogenesis of periodontal diseases.
Periodontal disease, being a serious ailment, is the fourth most common non-communicable disease in terms of prevalence, second only to pathology of the cardiovascular system, cancer and diabetes mellitus. The incidence among young people is steadily increasing.
The inefficiency of the specialized care provided, the inability to conduct comprehensive treatment in full, leads to an increase in patients with a severe degree of periodontal disease.
