Способ работы двигателя внутреннего сгорания, состоящий в том, что предварительно приготовленную сжатую горючую смесь всасывают через впускной клапан в надпоршневое пространство рабочего цилиндра за счет опускании поршня от положения максимально близкого к крышке цилиндра, поджигают горючую смесь с помощью расположенной в крышке цилиндра свечи, а затем расширяют полученные продукты сгорания, за счет продолжающегося опускания поршня, с передачей работы на выходной вал, отличающийся тем, что поджигание горючей смеси производят в самом начале процесса всасывания ее в цилиндр, располагая свечу в потоке выходящей из впускного клапана горючей смеси, а впускной клапан оставляют в процессе горения открытым, закрывая его в момент опускания поршня на величину, равную полному ходу поршня, поделенному на заданную степень адиабатического расширения в рабочем цикле двигателя.1.
