Abstract
The process comprises azeotropic reaction to give triesters of 2,2',2"-1,2,3 phenenyl -tris-(oxy))-tris-ethanol of general formula (I) where R is a residue of a higher monocarboxylic aliphatic acids with a normal chain C3-C6,C8,C10, or of acids with a branched chain C5 iso, C2-C4 (2-ethyl butyric), C2-C6 (2-ethyl hexanoic). Operating with 20-50 per cent aliphatic acid excess, the 1-3 per cent catalyst is sulphonic benzene acid, sulphonic p-toluene acid or H2SO4, with reagent:benzene, toluene or xylene. Reflux boiling for 1.5-3 hours permits purification and final decolouring.
