W wyniku działania preparatu enzymatycznego o aktywności AcmB pochodzącym ze szczepu bakterii Sterolibacterium denitrificans Chol-1S DSM: 13999, następuje regioselektywna dehydrogenacja między pierwszym i drugim atomem węgla cząstki substratu. Uzyskany w ten sposób produkt oczyszcza się metodą SPE z zastosowaniem polimerowych kolumienek chromatograficznych Strata-X, znanym sposobem, stosując izopropanol jako eluent.
