Description
Opis wynalazkuDescription of the invention
Przedmiotem wynalazku jest sposób przetwarzania pyłów z wytopu miedzi prowadzonego w piecu elektrycznym. The subject of the invention is a method of processing dust from copper smelting carried out in an electric furnace.
The residues from copper smelting in an electric furnace include, among others, dusts with a bulk density of 1.0-2.5 Mg/m 3 and grain size ranging from 0.01 mm to 0.08 mm, and for about 60 % of the fraction, this grain size ranges from 0.025 mm to 0.045 mm. Such dusts contain lead in an amount ranging from 25 to 38% by weight and zinc in an amount ranging from 20 to 34% by weight. Accompanying ingredients are copper, sulphur, carbon, silicon, calcium, magnesium in amounts ranging from 1-4% by weight, and iron, arsenic and silver in amounts below 1% by weight. The high concentration of lead and zinc compounds contained in the dust indicates the desirability of further use of the dust as a valuable raw material in the production of lead and zinc and their chemical compounds. A significant obstacle to the further use of dusts generated during copper smelting in an electric furnace is their grain size, when the chemical compounds contained in them, in particular lead and arsenic oxides, cause the acute toxicity of these dusts. Because the handling and storage of such dusts, due to their toxicity, poses a significant threat to all kinds of living organisms, dusts generated during copper smelting in an electric furnace were treated as waste.
The aim of the invention is to solve a method of processing dust from copper smelting in an electric furnace to such a form of Pb-Zn concentrate that could be relatively safely transported and stored - which will allow the concentrate to be used as a valuable raw material in the production of lead and zinc and their chemical compounds .
The essence of the solution of the method of processing dust from copper smelting carried out in an electric furnace is characterized by the fact that dust with a bulk density of 1.0-2.5 Mg/m 3 , containing at least 80% of fractions with a grain size ranging from 0.01 mm to 0.08 mm, is fed to the granulator, where a mixture of water and molasses is fed to the grains moving around the circumference of the granulator by means of a spray nozzle, the molasses content in the mixture being in the range of 25% to 70% by weight, preferably between 45% and 55% by weight, so that the solid fraction from the molasses and possibly other additives in the mixture does not exceed 15% by weight, preferably 10% by weight, and the mixture is fed in a proportion of 5% to 25% by weight of the granulated dust, followed by grains with a diameter of 4 to 10 mm are discharged from the granulator. According to another advantageous feature of the invention, the process is carried out until 90% by weight of the resulting granulate is contained in grains with a diameter of 6 to 8 mm. According to a further advantageous feature of the invention, a disc granulator is used as the granulator. According to a further advantageous feature of the invention, a roller granulator is used as the granulator.
A beneficial effect of the application of the invention is the possibility of obtaining such a form of granulated Pb-Zn concentrate, which can be relatively safely transported and stored - which allows the concentrate to be used as a valuable raw material in the production of lead and zinc and their chemical compounds, and its industrial use, with complying with applicable health and safety standards, does not pose a significant threat to all kinds of living organisms.
