Abstract
A device, particularly for wire, light-section steel and the like, which enables a coolant to be supplied forcibly in large quantities to a large section of rolled stock, the coolant thereafter being removed very quickly. The cooling zone is kept very short and the coolant pressure along the length of the device can be controlled by the dimensioning of the device. The rolled stock (10) is guided through a plurality of rods (4) which are arranged around a circle and converge towards an outlet funnel. The same device, if fitted with a sealed jacket (18), can be used in a first zone (a) where coolant is supplied, and in a second zone (b) where the coolant is removed. <IMAGE>
