Abstract

A structural steel material that exhibits excellent weather resistance even in high salt spray environments is provided at low cost by making the component composition to contain, in mass pcnt , specified amounts of C, Si, Mn, P, S and Al and compounding the five elements, Cu, Ni, Co, Nb and Sn in respective ranges of: Cu: 0.01 pcnt to 1.00 pcnt Ni: 0.01 pcnt to 0.65 pcnt Co: 0.002 pcnt to less than 0.220 pcnt Nb: 0.005 pcnt to 0.200 pcnt , and Sn: 0.005 pcnt to 0.200 pcnt .
