Abstract
Apparatur for å styre væskestrøm innen et vertslegeme har et første skall og et andre skall for sammenkopling til det andre skall til dannelse av et sylindrisk objekt som er regnet for å kop- les til og omgi en utvalgt kanal innen vertslegemet. Det sylindriske objekt er åpent i begge ender og har en indre diameter av en dimensjon som gjør det egnet til å passe over del ut- valgte vertslegemets kanal, slik som uretra. Apparaturen inkluderer også en plunger til hemming av væskestrømmen ved aktivering. Plungeren kan aktiveres av et elektrisk solc- noid eller ved hydraulisk eller pneumatisk aktivering for å bevege seg fra en frittstrømmende stilling til en innsnevrende stilling hvori væskestrømmen gjennom kanalen i det vesentlige forhindres eller reduseres. Apparaturen kan benyttes for å styre inkontinens eller for å hem- me væskestrøm i andre legemskanaler. Vertsbrukeren kan aktivere apparaturen med en fjernkontrollinnretning på legemets ytre side idet denne kommuniserer med den implanterte apparatur ved hjelp av en hvilken som helst trådløs kommunikasjon som oversender et signal til innretningen som får solenoidet til å bevege plungeren inn i den innsnevrende posisjon. Et andre signal får plungeren til å trekke seg tilbake til en høytstrømmende stilling når brukeren ikke lenger følger trang til å urinere.
