Abstract
Rørvarmeveksler (20) for å regulere temperaturen i et brønnstrømfluid (14) som fraktes i en undersjøisk rørledning (15) fra et brønnhode har et ringformet reservoir (24) som omslutter et avsnitt av rørledningen (15) nær brønnhodet. Et eller flere varmerør (22) strekker seg fra det ringformede reservoiret (24) inn i sjøvannet (18). I en varmefjemingskonfigurasjon er et arbeidsfluid (26) plassert inne i det ringformede reservoiret (24). Arbeidsfluidet (26) koker og fordampes på grunn av varme fra brønnstrømfluidet (14) og danner en damp (50), som stiger oppover inn i og kondenserres i varmerørene (22), idet den frigjør varme til det omkringliggende sjøvannet (l 8). Det kondenserte arbeidsfluidet (26) strømmer tilbake og inn i reservoiret (24) for å gjenta syklusen. I en varmetilveiebringelseskonfigurasjon er arbeidsfluidet (26) plassert i varmerørene (22), der de kokes ved varmeoverføring fra det omkringliggende sjøvannet (18). Den resulterende dampen (50) stiger oppover og inn i det ringformede reservoiret (26) og varme overføres til de kaldere brønnstrømfluidene (14). Andre utførelsesformer involverer et eller flere varmerør (22) innført gjennom rørledningsveggen.
