Abstract

Foreliggende oppfinnelse vedrører en protokolluavhengig ruting av data- pakker mellom en mobilstasjon i et pakkeradionelt og en deltaker (Vert) som er forbundet med et eksternt nett. Ifølge oppfinnelsen blir en datapakke etter en fremmed protokoll (IPX) overført gjennom et pakkeradionelt ved bruk av en annen protokoll (X.25) som innkapslet i en datapakke i henhold til den annen protokoll. Det overførende pakkeradionelt trenger således ikke å forslå protokollen lil den overførte fremmede datapakke eller å kunne tolke innholdet av datapakken. Et datapakkenett er forbundet med et annet pakkeradionelt, datanett eller forgren- ingsnettel mellom pakkedatanetl via en portnode (GPRS GSN), som bruker den nettinterne protokoll (X.25) mot det utpekte pakkenelt, og protokollen lil hvert nett mot andre nett. Når en datapakke blir overført via en portnode fra et nett til el annet nett, blir datapakken innkapslet i en pakke i henhold lil det nye nettets pro- tokoll. Når den innkapslede datapakke ankommer i en node som understøtter protokollen lil den innkapslede datapakke, blir innkapslingen fjernet og datapak- ken blir rutel videre i henhold lil datapakkens protokoll.
