Abstract
Det er beskrevet en fremgangsmåte og anordning for gravitasjonsseparasjon innbefattende en pakket kolonne (12) inneholdende et pakkemateriale (24) og organ (20) for å vibrere den pakkede kolonnen og partiklene i denne. Gravitasjonsseparasjonsanord- ningen muliggjer en effektiv separasjon av faste partikler med forskjellige tettheter. Fremgangsmåten innbefatter fortrinnsvis kondisjonering av en vanndig masse av mineral- malm med et dispergeringsmiddel og å mate den dispergerte vanndige massen inn i et innløp (18) i en mellomliggende seksjon av den pakkede kolonnen og deri danne et høytetthetssjikt av partikler med høy tetthet i et nedre parti (16) av kolonnen og danne et lavtetthetssjikt av partikler med lav tetthet i et øvre parti (14) av kolonnen. Halefrak- sjonen ijemes fra den øvre enden av kolonnen og konsentrert mineralmalm med reduser- te nivåer av gråberg fjernes fra bunnen av kolonnen. Anordningen og fremgangsmåten er spesielt anvendelig for separasjon av silikapartikler med små partikkelstørrelser fra jern- malmpartikler med små partikkelstørrelser.
