Abstract

En gassdrevet oscillator (10) omfattende en motor (11) med en sylinder (12) og et par ekspansjonskamre (13, 14) på hver side av et flytende stempel (15) innrettet til å beveges frem og tilbake i sylinderen (12). Stempelet (15) er montert på en stempelstang (16) som strekker seg gjennom sylinderen (12) og inn i en kompressor (17). Trykkluft leveres fra en tank (20) til motoren (11) via et par ventiler (22, 23) som er montert på en justeringsskrue og forskyvbart anordnet på stempelstangen (16). Avstanden mellom ventilene (22, 23) kan justeres med sikte på å variere stempelets (15) amplitude i sylinderen (12). Stempelstangen (16) innbefatter adskilte slisser (24, 25) som vekselvis korresponderer med kanaler innvendig i de respektive ventiler (22, 23) for levering av en trykkluftpuls til de respektive kamre (13, 14) i sylinderen (12). Kvikksølv tilsettes eller avgis fra en tank (42) som er stivt festet til stempelstangen (16) for å variere oscillatorens (10) treghet.
