Abstract

Optisk transparente hydrogeler med høy brytnings- indeks er tilveiebragt. Ekspanderbare intraokulære hydrogellinser (10) fremstilles fra hydrogelene ved å oppvarme disse over sine elastiske deformasjonstemperaturer og deformere dem til en forlenget konfigurasjon med minst en nedsatt dimensjon (20), egnet for innføring gjennom et lite kirurgisk innsnitt. Linsene får avkjøle i denne konfigurasjon og bibeholder den deformerte form før kirurgisk im- plantering. Etter implantering vil linsene hydra- tisere til en forstørret elastisk form og gjeninnta den opprinnelige linsekonfigurasjon i full kapsel- størrelse. Hydrogeteiomfatter. en fornettet polymer fremstilt fra en eller flere monomerer valgt fra gruppen bestående av 3-vinylpyridin, 4-vinylpyridin, 4-vinylpyrimidin, vinyl- pyrazin og 2-metyl-5-vinylpyrazin.
