De kjente trådløse forbindelser er bare egnet for spesielle anvendelser; f.eks. trådløse telefoner bare for telefonforbindelser. Merutgifter og den eventuelle gjensidige påvirkning ved drift av flere innretninger bør unngås. For videreføring av den trådløse telefon for utall- ige andre anvendelser kompletteres minst en mobil- del ved hjelp av et ytterligere nett-inverst til- koblingsspunkt til en trådløs telefontilknytnings- enhet (TAE). Ved en slik tilkoblingsmulighet kan nesten alle vanlige endebrukerinnretninger, såsom f.eks. tele- fon, BTX, modem, fax, telefonsvarer, fjernkoblings- og fjernvirkningsinnretninger og tilsatsinnretning- er drives direkte under bevegelse og trådløst.
