Abstract

The flame-retardant insulating mixture for sheathing electrical cables and lines comprises from 40 to 100 parts by weight of a copolymer of ethylene with acrylic acid and/or an acrylate, with an ethylene content of from 70 to 95 % by weight, and from 100 to 170 parts by weight of aluminium hydroxide. The acrylate employed is preferably butyl acrylate. Said mixtures need not be crosslinked and have particularly low values for the tear propagation strength, so that they are particularly suitable for jointing processes in which automatic insulation takes place.
