PURPOSE:To improve the adhesiveness of a watertight compound to a PVC insulator and to improve the ease of work of stripping a cable end by making the watertight compound with PVC, ethylene-PVC copolymer or ethylene vinyl acetate-PVC copolymer as a main ingredient and adding a specified amount of terpene-based copolymer. CONSTITUTION:A watertight compound is made with 100 weight parts of PVC, ethylene-PVC copolymer or ethylene vinyl acetate-PVC copolymer as a main ingredient and with 5-30 weight parts of terpene-based copolymer. This improves the adhesiveness of the compound to a conductor as well as the watertightness and the adhesiveness to an insulator. Also, since the adhesiveness of the compound to the insulator is greater than that to the conductor, the compound does not remain on the conductor at the time of stripping the conductor end. That is, a cable of excellent ease of stripping the cable end is obtained.
