Abstract
Det beskrives en fremgangsmåte for å oppnå fenylkarbamater (I), der R1 er lavere alkyl C1 -C5 eller benzyl og R2 er metyl, etyl eller propyl. Fremgangsmåten omfatter omsetning av L-(S)-3-[(l-metylamino)etyl]fenol i nærvær av en base, med et karbamoylhalogenid for å oppnå et intermediat og deretter, å underkaste dette en reduserende amineringsreaksjon eller en metyleringsreaksjon ved omsetning med et metylhalogenid. Forbindelsene (I) inkluderer rivastigmin, en forbindelse som inhiberer kolinsterase i sentralnervesystemet, og som kan benyttes ved behandling av neurodegenerative sykdommer som senil demens eller Alzheimers sykdom.
