En neddykkbar elektromagnetfeltgenerator (5) for elektromagnetiske undersøkelser på sjøbunnen innbefatter en vekselstrøm-likestrøm-omformer (18) som kan generere en likestrømutgang fra en vekselstrøminngang, og en svitsjemodul (19) som kan generere et bølgeform-drivsignal ved selektiv svitsjing av likestrømutgangen. Elektromagnetfeltgeneratoren innbefatter også en antenne (20) som kan generere et elektromagnetfelt som respons på bølgeformdrivsignalet. Bruken av en svitsjet likestrømkilde muliggjør generering av firkant- eller rektangulære bølge-EM-signaler som har skarpe overgangskarakteristikker og som i hovedsaken vil være uavhengig av vekselstrøm-inngangs karakteristikkene.
