Abstract
En oppstartsprosess for et aksesspunkt (AP) inkluderer en oppdagelsesfase og en annonsefase. Under oppdagelsesfasen detekterer AP nabo-AP fra sitt utvidede tjenestesett (ESS), nabo-AP fra andre ESS og ekstreme interferenskilder. Under annonseirngsfasen sender AP sine fyrsignaler med maksimal effekt for å akselerere gjenkjennelse av nabo-AP som kjører oppdagelsesfasen. En automatisk intitialiserings kanalvelgerprosess hos AP avsøker kanalene AP vil gjøre bruk av for å kommunisere. Informasjon om hver avsøkt kanal registreres og en beste ytelseskanal fastlegges for bruk av AP.
