Abstract

Den foreliggende oppfinnelsen vedrører en fremgangsmåte for fremstilling av etylenoksid ved katalytisk oksidasjonsreaksjon av etylen med molekylært oksygen med rørreaktor. Reaktoren omfatter en bunt reaksjonsrør (5) som er nedsenket i et varmevekslerfluid og fylt med en fast sølvbasert katalysator (8) og som traverseres av en reaktiv gasstrøm som inneholder etylen og molekylært oksygen, som i kontakt med katalysatoren danner etylenoksid. Arealet av det indre tverrsnittet av reaksjonsrørene (5) minker mellom innløpet (1) og utløpet (3) av rørene over minst en del av lengden av rørene og forblir konstant over enhver gjenværende del. Fremgangsmåten gjør det mulig å øke selektiviteten av reaksjonen til etylenoksid for en gitt produksjon av etylenoksid. Det er også mulig å anvende en maksimal charge av aktiv katalysator pr enhet indre rørvolum tilgjengelig i reaktoren, noe som spesielt skyldes en optimal varmeveksling som er i stand til mer bestemt å levere en relativt stabil reaksjonstemperaturprofil over hele lengden av reaksjonsrørene og spesielt å forhindre ukontrollerte reaksjoner.
