Abstract
En fremgangsmåte og apparat for å stimulere kjemiske reaksjoner på en katalyseoverflate (116) ved å anvende elektrisitet, og den reverse prosess å konvertere energi frigjort fra kjemiske reaksjoner til elektrisitet. En reversibel emitter (102) genererer elektroner som injiseres i reaktanter på katalyseoverflaten (116), hvilket eksiterer kjemiske reaktive vibrasjonsresonanser. Hete elektroner dannet i emitterområdet i en halvlederovergang (110) diffuserer til det kolokaliserte kollektorområde og katalyseoverflate. (116). Katalyseklaser eller filmer festet på kollektorover-flaten overfører de hete elektroner til eller fra katalyse-overf laten (116) med adsorberte reaktanter. Dimensjonen på katalysekollektoren (104) er mindre enn den midlere frie energibanen av hete elektroner. De hete elektroner eksiterer reaktantvibrasjoner før termalisering med gittersubst-ratet og akselererer dermed reaksjoner. De hete elektroner genereres også av de samme reaksjoner på en katalyseoverflate. Fremgangsmåten og apparatet er reversible og kan opereres som en elektrisk generator som benytter kjemiske reaksjoner.
