Abstract

Det er beskrevet en fremgangsmåte for fremstilling av en oppslemming med høyt faststoffinnhold av et syreresistent utfelt kalsiumkarbonat for forsendelses- formål. En oppslemming med lavt faststoffinnhold på ca. 18 vekt% til 20 vekt% faststoff behandles med et kjemisk additiv, så som natriumaluminat, fur å gi kalsi- umkarbonatet syreresistens, og det awannes for å danne en meHomoppslemming med faststoffinnhold ca. 44 vekt%. Denne mellomoppslemmingen fortynnes der- etter med en fraksjon av oppslemmingen med lavt faststoffinnhold som er behand- let med det kjemiske additivet, for å overføre mellomoppslemmingen til en endelig oppslemming med høyt faststoffinnhold på ca. 35 vekt%. Syre tilsettes til den endelige produktoppslemmingen for å redusere pH av den endelige oppslemmin- gen til innenfor et buffrende område på ca. 7,0 til 6,5. Den endelige produktopp- slemmingen på ca. 35 vekt% omfatter en syreresistent kalsiumkarbonat sammen- setning med en pH på ca. 7,0 som kan forsendes for endelig anvendelse ved fremstilling av papir under nøytrale pH betingelser. Den endelige produktoppslem- mingen har en Brookfield viskositet varierende fra 200 til 500 centipoise ved 100 opm.
