Description
Procedure for applying long fibers to textiles and textile-like products using short fibers.
Electrostatic application of fibers to woven fabrics is known. In practice, it has been shown that the application of long fibers (3 mm and longer) creates great difficulties, as such fibers easily tangle in each other. This leads to clogging of the sieves, to an irregular supply of fibers and also to material loss. However, the application of fibers is done to produce a velvet-like appearance. It is of course that the velvet-like character depends on the length of the fibers applied to the substrate. The following applies: the longer the fibers are (at the same denier level), the softer and warmer the manufactured product will appear.
The invention aims to solve that task using e.g. 3 mm long fibers (short fibers) to produce a velvet-like coating, whereby the fiber length is at least 6 mm.
Det er funnet at man på et underlag It is found that one on a substrate
Ved den derpå følgende for-nyete elektrostatiske påføring av f. eks. likeledes 3 mm lange fibre, dykker de nye which is already provided with fibers in the usual way, with the help of an ordinary spray gun can spray on very small amounts of an adhesive (reaction products of polyurethanes, polyisocyanates and acid esters such as methylene glycol adipic acid ester, with a viscosity of between 60 and 300 cP, preferably 150 cP ) and then repeat the electrostatic application of fibers. Here, a sticking together of the fiber ends does not occur as one might expect; the sprayed mist settles as dew drops on each free fiber end. In the subsequent renewed electrostatic application of e.g. likewise 3 mm long fibers, the new ones dive
Fibrene reiser seg alltid opp påny, hvilket er av betydning for bibehold av den fløyels-liknende karakter av belegget. fibers vertically into the small drops of adhesive which are on the already applied fiber tips, thus extending the original fiber length from 3-6 mm. With the help of a subsequent heat treatment, the whole thing hardens, so that the produced long-fibre velvet coating can also be printed. The fibers always rise again, which is important for maintaining the velvet-like character of the coating.
On a cloth-like woven material which has been previously primed with an aqueous emulsion based on a butadiene-acrylonitrile copolymer to prevent penetration of the adhesive layer to be applied, adhesive is sprayed using a spray gun or shower device, forming a dewy coating whose thickness is e.g. about. 0.01-0.06 mm. The thus pre-treated substrate material is now flocked electrostatically with viscose fibers of 3 mm length and the formed surface object is then subjected to a heat treatment to dry and fix the adhesive. This can advantageously be carried out by passing the surface object through a drying channel where it is exposed to infrared rays. In general, it is recommended to carry out drying at a surface temperature that does not exceed approx. 80° C. During heat treatment, the solvent present is driven away on the one hand, while on the other hand, when the adhesive described above is used, condensation takes place. Now the flocked surface object is freed from the possibly still present unfixed bows by means of such precautions as brushing or vacuuming and then provided with a dewy coating of adhesive in the above-described manner by spraying with an adhesive solution. It is then further processed by electrostatically applying another layer of ink. Now comes heat treatment to dry, respectively to condense out. Condensation is advantageously carried out by means of storage. Storage for 24 hours at room temperature is generally sufficient. Wetting rate is increased in the presence of moisture.
By repeating several times, e.g. three times, the above-described flocking method produces products which are made up of several fiber layers, but which are also uniform, and which can be used as felt materials or molton cloth.
