Description
Hulelektrode av grafitt.
Det er kjent i elektrotermi, spesielt ved elektrostål-fremstilling, å anvende hul- eller vekeelektroder, da elektrodeendenes ringformede utformning stabiliserer lysbuen.
Det er også kjent at ved innføring av ioniserende gasser, f.eks. argon, nitrogen og lignende, inntrer en stabiliseringsøkning, og derved forbedres vesentlig lysbuens brennerbetingelser for så vidt som den termiske virkningsgrad øker, en ugunstig virkning på strøm-nettet reduseres og fremfor alt forlenges den ildfaste forings leve-tid, som sterkt belaster elektrostålets omkostninger.
Betinget av elektrodenes fremstilling oppstår ved binde-midlets spaltning en viss porøsitet gjennom hele elektrodens struktur, hvorigjennom en del av den under et visst trykk tilførte gass vandrer bort og går tapt og dermed ikke mer står til disposisjon ved elektrodenes brennerende for lysbuestabiliseringen.
Da de anvendte gasser, som f.eks. argon, er dyre,
har man undertrykket disse gasstap ved at man har gjort hulningens overflate gasstett med forkoksbare stoffer som"bek etc. samt kunst-harpiks, sukkeroppløsning, vannglassoppløsning eller lignende.
Hulelektrodens indre flate blir spesielt virksom ugjennomtrengelig ved dannelse av pyrolytisk karbon fra gassfasen.
Ved hulelektroden ifølge oppfinnelsen er det til de -forkoksbare stoffer satt lysbuestabiliserende stoffer, eksempelvis KBFjij, K2SO^, WC, TiC.
Ved forsøk ble det fastslått at ved denne tilsetning, som fremstillingsmessig er enkel, influeres brennerforholdet gunstig. Selvsagt kan det også anvendes tilsvarende ioniserende stoffer med tilsvarende like eller bedre virkninger.
Ved hulelektroden ifølge oppfinnelsen unngås således ikke bare argontap etc, men samtidig oppnås også en ekstra lysbue-stabiliseringseffekt som er av spesiell betydning med hensyn til virkningen på strømnettet og levetiden av lysbueovnens ildfaste foring.
Claims (1)
- Hulelektrode av grafitt i hvilken hulningens overflate er gjort gasstett med forkoksbare stoffer, som f.eks. ved pyrolyse avsettes i elektrodens porer, karakterisert ved at til de forkoksbare stoffer er tilsatt lysbuestabiliserende stoffer, eksempelvis KBF^, ^SO^, WC, TiC.
