Abstract

The bicycle crank mechanism has a crank (13) with pedal (14) on each side, pivotably (3) connected to a lever (15) which is firmly secured to the crank shaft (7). A roller (12) on the crank is guided along a curved track (11) around the crankshaft. The arrangement is such that, when the pedal travels through 180 deg. the crankshaft rotates through an angle >= than 180 deg. The curved track may be a circle which is eccentric relative to the crankshaft, or it may be an ellipse or a combination of different curves. The eccentricity of the track may be adjustable between a number of selectable positions.
