Abstract

A building panel, esp. a board or plate for cladding walls or floors, consists of a carrier sheet with a coating layer of synthetic resin, esp. a polyester reinforced with glass fibres. A mould is used to form a thin, flat layer of synthetic material and this is bonded to the carrier plate. The carrier has perforations and is placed directly on to the still plasticised layer in the mould, and the assembly is allowed to set. Method produces building panels without requiring an expensive plant generating high pressure and/or expensive synthetic resins.
