Abstract

Process for the prodn. of granular basic-acting fertilizers contng. a certain amt. of water-soluble P2O5, wherein the basic acting fertilizer (such as Thomas phosphate or Rhenania phosphate) is freed almost completely from rapidly reacting Ca-cpds., then mixed with at least one alkali phosphate and finally dried in such manner that conversion into water-insoluble phosphates is avoided. A mixt. of 100 kg. Thomas phosphate (contng. 12.9% citric acid soluble P2O5 and 3.5% CaO, as CaO + CaCO3) and 100 kg. water is preneutralised with 4.8 kg. 85% H3PO4 and filtered until a mass is obtd. which can be granulated. The filter-cake is mixed with 18 kg. NH4 phosphate (pH about 4.5) and the mixt. granulated and dried for about 20 min. at 80 deg. to give a product contng. 23% citric acid soluble P2O5, 8.8% of which is water soluble.
