Abstract

The crane-carrying watercraft embodying special stabilising devices has its main platform (2) supported by rows of hollow columns (3, 4, 5) the bases of the columns in each row linking up to form continuous buoyancy chambers (7b) parallel to one another. The undersides of these chambers are open. Part way up but below the operating waterline (8) they have horizontal partitions (9) from which hang vertical bulkheads creating airtight spaces (11, a, b, v) under each of the columns. A valve (14 a, b, c) in the top of each space connects it to an air reservoir (16a, b, c) supplied (18) by a compressor (C) in the top of each buoyancy chamber. Each space also has a valve (20 a, b, c) controlled vent (21, 22, 23) to atmosphere.
