Abstract

Mfr. of an incontinence napkin of the type comprising a moisture permeable top layer, a moisture-impermeable hydrophobic lower layer and a hydrophilic intermediate layer by the use of a textile fibre fleece as the intermediate layer, the layers being preferably bonded together by heating under pressure to fix the intermediate layer almost completely in an envelope of top and bottom layer. Overcomes the problems associated with the use of an intermediate layer of tissue paper-usually obtained from de-inked newsprint or other waste paper, e.g. poor hydrophilic properties and low strength leading to a wet paper pulp which is unpleasant for patient and nursing staff.
