Abstract

The clamp has a body with a slot accommodating the edge of the item to be lifted, and jaws on the opposite sides of the slot and extending towards it, each mounted on an arm. One or both jaws comprise a cam plate, hinging on the body, a lifting eye and a set of coupling rods, the latter connecting the lower end of the eye to a point on the cam plate eccentric to its pivot axis. The eye (11) has a semicircular plate (17) at its lower end, and hinges by means of a first pin (18) onto a coupling rod (16) under the centre of the plate. The other end of this rod is coupled to the others by a second pin (15) at right angles to the first, and whose ends work in a pair of opposite vertical slots formed in the body. There are shoulders (2a) on the body, extending outwards at the top end of the slots.
