Abstract

1333063 Clamps G B WAUGH 18 Jan 1971 [16 Jan 1970] 2201/70 Heading E2B A clamping device consists of a frame 1 comprising a heated pressure bar 2, spaced parallel guide bars 3 and a clamping means 4 mounted on each guide bar each clamping means including a support arm 5 formed near one end with an aperture 6 through which the guide bar slidably passes and at the other end a block 10 through which a plunger 9 depressible by an eccentric 12 and connected to a pressure pad 7 slidably passes. Each block pivotally supports two links 11 which rotatably support the eccentric 12 in an end piece 14 secured to the plunger, the eccentric being turned by a handle to depress the plunger thereby compressing a resilient buffer 8 and causing the pressure pad connected thereto to clamp a panel 15 between the pressure pad 7 and the pressure bar 2. The bar 2 is heated either by a flow of fluid, by electrical resistance heating elements or it may form one electrode of a dielectric heating device. The device may be used in securing an edging strip 16 to a panel 15 by adhesive.
