Abstract

Chromic acid bath contains at least 60 g/l. chromic anhydride, a fluoride contg. catalyst in an amount sufficient to supply 0.03 to 1 gram. of fluoride in solution per litre and 1-25 gms. of trivalent chrome per litre. The aqs. solution is free of sulphate ions. Coatings have high absorptivity of heat and visible light, and re useful for military equipment, decorative furniture, etc.
