Mixts. of quaternary ammonium cpds., esp. for use as fabric softeners, contain 0-10 (esp. 0-5) wt.% of R1N(R)3 circled positive - X circled negative, 60-85 (esp. 65-80) wt.% of (R1)2N(R)2 circled positive X circled negative and 5-25 wt.% of R1)3NR circled positive X circled negative (where R1 are 8-22C alkyl gps., of which 30-70 wt.% are 16-22C linear alkyl and 70-30 wt.% are 8-15C alkyl gps. contg. 15-30 wt.% of branched gps. with mainly one Me residue; R is lower alkyl; X is a quaternising anion). The mixts. can be used as liq. aqs-alcoholic concentrate which are readily diluted to form storage-stable dispersions which can withstand repeated freezing and thawing. They can also be used as hair rinses, emulsifiers and antistatic agents.
