Aqueous fire-extinguishing foam concentrates comprise as their active ingredient 1-10% by wt. of a compound: wherein a is 1-3, X is H or Y, and Y is a hydrophilating group, e.g. a polyethyleneglycol radical or a radical containing an amine oxide or ammonium salt. The concentrate may also contain a water-solubilising agent, e.g. a watersoluble polysiloxane, triethanolammoniumlaurylsulphate, or triethanolammoniumdodecylbenzenesulphonate.
