Abstract

Doubled yarns for knitwear having improved qualities as regards feel, strength for weight, absence of faults through slipping and looping of one component thread over the other, are produced on standard false twist texturising machines with twist spindles or bushes driven by an endless belt in common. Component threads of different chemical compsns. are fed through adjacent processing lines under conditions to give the best possible texture, differences in the number of turns required being covered by differences in the diameters of the twister drivers, and at speeds enabling the two threads, false twisted in opposite directions, to be spooled evenly together for heat treatment and twisting on to cones.
