Abstract

Electrical return flow tunnel furnace, esp. for firing or drying and firing of articles during enamelling as they are carried through by a chain or corresponding suspension conveyor, comprises (a) a convention/recuperation section subdivided by a partial vertical cross wall into inlet and outlet channels, closed off from the external surroundings by cap type air screens and having a continuous mutual exchange of furnace atmosphere, achieved by circulating fans with suction ducts coming from below the pre-heated articles in the inlet channel and delivery ducts extending over the cooled articles in the outlet channel, (b) a non-divided radiation-recuperation section, (c) the return flow firing zone divided by a hot transverse partition and frequently having heating elements operating automatically and connected together in controlled gps. or some or all of its inner surfaces, in addition the firing zone may be separated from the front convention-recuperation section and the radiation-recuperation section by an internal hot air screen.
