Abstract

Filter assembly, comprising (a) a pair of tanks in liquid connection with each other, (b) a common main filtrate channel connecting the tanks and provided with a main discharge nozzle for the filtrate and a valve for the control of the reverse flow, (c) a filter unit installed in each tank consisting of a cylindrical perforated filter housing on which is mounted a brush-type element with attached wiper which can be caused to rotate by the liquid flow, (d) an inlet header in liquid connection with the liquid feed source and the tanks, provided with a change-over valve movable between two extreme positions, (e) a discharge header connected to the tanks and provided with a second nozzle for the discharge of a small fraction of the filtrate together with foreign matter, as well as with a second change-over valve movable between two extreme positions. More esp. the filter housing is of frusto-conical shape with multiply perforated lateral wall.
