Abstract

Bonded non-woven fabric is produced by placing beside each other a number of fibrous strips and stretching the adjacent strips so as to obtain a lightweight web of highly taut and orientated fibres. An open pattern of an elastic adhesive is applied to the surface of a transfer sheet provided with a strip-off layer, after which the fleece is applied to the adhesive-coated surface of the sheet holding the fleece under tension, compressing the fleece and the adhesive to imbed the separate fibres of the fleece into the adhesive, when the adhesive is hardened and the bonded fibre fleece is stripped off.
