Abstract

For the aluminum alloy blank for a magnetic disc as in an embodiment of the present invention: Mg is 3.00 mass% or less and Si is 1.00 mass% or less; the blank contains at least one of Fe: 6.0 mass% or less, Mn: 10.0 mass% or less, and Ni: 10.0 mass% or less, the total amount thereof being 10.0 mass% or less; the balance consists of Al and unavoidable impurities; the area ratio of the surface occupied by intermetallic compounds is 50-40%; and the total area ratio of simple Si and Mg-Si intermetallic compound is 1% or less.
