Abstract
A PROCESS FRO PRODUCING A LOW AROMATIC HYDROCARBON SOLVENT AND STRAIGHT-CHAIN PARAFFIN, WHICH PROCESS COMPRISES THE STEPS OF (1) TO HYDRODESULFURIZE A KEROSENE FRACTION, (2) TO REMOVE GAS AND LOW BOILING FRACTIONS TO OBTAIN A KEROSENE FRACTION HAVING A LOW SULFUR CONTENT OF 5 PPM OR LESS, (3) TO SEPARATE AND RECOVER STRAIGHT-CHAIN PARAFFIN FROM THE KEROSENE FRACTION USING A MOLECULAR SIEVE OF SYNTHETIC ZEOLITE TO OBTAIN A RESIDUAL OIL, AND (4) TO HYDROGENATE AROMATIC RINGS OF THE RESIDUAL OIL TO OBTAIN A SOLVENT HAVING AN AROMATIC HYDROCARBON CONTENT OF 1% BY MASS OR LESS, AND A PRESSURE-SENSITIVE COPYING MATERIAL WHICH IS PREPARED USING THE LOW AROMATIC HYDROCARBON SOLVENT OBTAINED BY THE ABOVE PROCESS. THE ABOVE LOW AROMATIC HYDROCARBON SOLVENT HAS LITTLE ODOR AND IS INNOXIOUS TO HUMAN HEALTH AND EXCELLENT IN THE SOLVENT PROPERTY FOR COLOR FORMERS AND IN COLOR DEVELOPING PROPERTY, AND IS USEFUL AS A SOLVENT FOR PREPARING A PRESSURE-SENSITIVE COPYING MATERIAL.
