Abstract

This invention provides a process for producing a hydrorefined gas oil, comprising the step of hydrogenating a hydrorefining oil containing not less than 95% by volume of a distillation fraction having a boiling point range of 150 to 380ºC and having a sulfur content of 2 to 15 ppm by mass, a total aromatic content of 10 to 25% by volume, and a total naphthene content of 20 to 60% by volume in the presence of a hydrogenation catalyst to prepare a generated oil having a total aromatic content of not more than 3% by volume, and the step of hydrogenating the above generated oil in the presence of a hydrogenation catalyst comprising a crystalline molecular sieve component to prepare a generated oil containing not more than 16% by volume of a petroleum distillation fraction having a boiling point range of below 150ºC and satisfying the requirement that the total of the total aromatic content and the total naphthene content is not more than 80% of the total of the total aromatic content and the total naphthene content in the hydrorefining oil.
