IN A METHOD FOR ELECTROSTATIC COATING A METALLIC CYLINDRICAL BODY HAVING A SUBSTANTIALLY CYLINDRICAL SHAPE FORMED BY LAMINATING METAL PLATES, AN ELECTRODE SHAFT 18 SERVING AS A SUPPORTING ROD IS INSERTED INTO AN AXIAL HOLE 2 OF THE METALLIC CYLINDRICAL BODY CL AND MADE TO ABUT ON THE INNER SURFACE OF THE AXIAL HOLE 2 ALONG THE AXIAL DIRECTION TO SUPPORT THE METALLIC CYLINDRICAL BODY CL. UNDER SUCH CONDITION, ELECTROSTATIC COATING IS CONDUCTED WHILE PLACING THE METALLIC CYLINDRICAL BODY CL ABOVE A FLUIDIZED BED AND ROTATING THE METALLIC CYLINDRICAL BODY CL. A RESIN POWDER CAN THEREBY BE ATTACHED UNIFORMLY TO THE SURFACE OF THE METALLIC CYLINDRICAL BODY CL. THEN, THE ATTACHED RESIN POWDER IS HEATED FOR FUSION-BONDING TO FORM A COATING FILM. SINCE NO RESIN POWDER ATTACHES TO A PART OF THE INNER SURFACE OF THE METALLIC CYLINDRICAL BODY ON WHICH THE SUPPORTING ROD ABUT, SUCH UNCOATED PART SERVES AS A PASS TO PERMIT THE AIR BETWEEN THE LAMINATED PLATES EXPANDED BY HEATING TO ESCAPE, AND THE FORMATION OF HOLES ON THE SURFACE OF THE COATING FILM CAN THEREBY BE PREVENTED. FURTHER, A COLD-SETTING TYPE LIQUID RESIN COMPOSITION IS COATED ON THE UNCOATED PART OF THE INNER SURFACE ON WHICH THE ELECTRODE SHAFT 18 ABUTS, AND PREFERABLY A GAS IS BLOWN TO THE COATED PART TO EXTEND THE LIQUID RESIN COMPOSITION UNIFORMLY, FOLLOWED BY CURING TO FORM A COATING FILM.FIG.1
