Abstract
A hollow laminated body e.g. a container or a pipe comprises a base body 1 consisting of fibres in a hardenable plastics matrix, with a metal surface layer 2 which in the illustrated case is the interior of the body, but could be the exterior thereof. To facilitate application of the metal layer 2, and to ensure secure anchorage thereof to the body 1, carbon fibres are used as the fibres in the body 1 and the metal layer 2 is a galvanic coating. In producing the hollow laminated body, the surface to be coated, of the base body 11 is treated before the galvanic coating step, either by exposing the carbon fibres at said surface or by applying a conductive medium, such as a conductive lacquer, thereto. <IMAGE>
