Abstract

A PINCH ROLLER TRANSFER MECHANISM FOR A TAPE TRANSPORT OF A VIDEO TAPE RECORDER WHEREIN THE PINCH ROLLER (26) IS POSITIONED BETWEEN THE TAPE CASSETTE BODY (12) AND THE MAGNETIC TAPE PULLED OUT THEREFROM. INCLUDED IS A DRIVE GEAR (80) HAVING A CAM GROOVE (82) FORMED IN ONE FACE THEREOF. A DRIVEN GEAR (94) MESHING WITH THE DRIVE GEAR (80), IS COAXIALLY PROVIDED WITH A CYLINDRICAL CAM (110) HAVING A HELICAL GROOVE (112) CUT IN ITS SURFACE. SLIDABLY MOUNTED TO A SHAFT ABOUT WHICH THE DRIVEN GEAR (94) AND THE CYLINDRICAL CAM (110) ARE PIVOTED, A SLEEVE (114) HAS A FIRST CAM FOLLOWER (116) SLIDABLY ENGAGED IN THE HELICAL CAM GROOVE (112), SO THAT THE ROTATION OF THE DRIVE GEAR (80) RESULTS IN THE LINEAR TRAVEL OF THE SLEEVE (114) ALONG THE SHAFT. THE SLEEVE (114) HAS ANOTHER CAM FOLLOWER (124) WHICH IS ENGAGED IN THE CAM GROOVE (82) IN THE DRIVE GEAR (80) AT ONE EXTREMITY OF THE LINEAR TRAVEL OF THE SLEEVE.THEREFORE, AT THIS EXTREMITY OF LINEAR TRAVEL, THE SLEEVE (114) IS ANGULARLY DISPLACED ABOUT THE SHAFT WITH THE CONTINUED ROTATION OF THE DRIVE GEAR (80). THE PINCH ROLLER (26) IS ROTATABLY CARRIED BY A CARRIER ARM (126) COUPLED TO THE SLEEVE (114) (FIG. 3)
