Abstract

A SECURITY FITTING FOR SLIDING SASH WINDOWS COMPRISES A LOCK ASSEMBLY 3 AND A KEEPER 1 FOR MOUNTING ON RESPECTIVE SASH FRAMES 4 AND 2. THE KEEPER 1 HAS A THREADED NUT 10 LOOSELY RETAINED WITHIN A CAVITY 9 INSIDE THE KEEPER BODY 5. THE LOCK ASSEMBLY 3 HAS A HOUSING 13 IN WHICH A SOCKET-HEADED SCREW 20 IN BOTH SLIDABLE (AGAINST A BIAS SPRING 23) AND ROTATABLE. TO LOCK THE FITTING THE SCREW 20 IS PUSHED IN AGAINST THE SPRING 23 BY MEANS OF A SUITABLE KEY 25, AND SCREWED INTO THE NUT 10 SO AS TO CLENCH THE CLOCK ASSEMBLY 3 TO THE KEEPER 1. IN THE LOCKED CONDITION THE FRONT FACE 18 OF THE HOUSING 13 CONCEALS THE FIXING SCREWS 6A OF THE KEEPER 1. THE HOUSING 13 HAS A TAPERED NOSE 19 (FIG. 3C) AND THE KEEPER 1 HAS A COMPLEMENTARY TAPERED RECESS 8 (FIG. 2B) SO THAT THE PARTS ARE SELF-ALIGNING AS THE WINDOW SASHES ARE CLOSED.(FIG. 1)
